Cherry Peach Kale Smoothie…A Healthy and Delicious Choice!

By Jodee Weiland

Lately the kale in my garden has been coming in faster than I can pick it.  I’ve used it in all kinds of recipes, but today I decided on something simple and delicious. Why not a kale smoothie of some sort?

I decided to put the baby kale from my garden, some ripe peaches I had on hand, and some pure tart cherry juice into the blender and make a smoothie for myself.  Add a little organic honey and ice to that, and you have a deep green kale smoothie, my Cherry Peach Kale Smoothie…A Healthy and Delicious Choice.

I have always been health conscious, so I have made up my own smoothie combos as well as tried those that others have put on the internet.  If you’re not inclined to come up with your own ideas for smoothies, there are numerous places online where you can find any number of great recipes for smoothies with every imaginable combination of fruits and vegetables.  Most will surprise any skeptics out there with how great they taste.

Whichever you choose, there are numerous health benefits from a fruit and veggie smoothie.  I like the idea of kale smoothie because it is so rich in vitamins K and A plus other vitamins as well.  Aside from the nutritional value of kale, it is known to help lower cholesterol and the risk of certain types of cancer.  Kale has even more health benefits beyond this, but these are the primary reasons I choose to eat kale.  In fact, there are so many health benefits to eating kale and so many ways to eat it as well, that I often wonder why more people aren’t doing just that.

Cherry Peach Kale Smoothie…A Healthy and Delicious Choice!

3 cups fresh baby kale tightly packed
2 ripe medium peaches pitted and quartered
1 cup 100% pure tart black cherry juice
3 tablespoons organic honey or to taste
1 cup or more ice

Put the first three above ingredients in a blender and blend thoroughly.  Then add the honey and ice and blend that into the rest.  Pour your smoothie in a glass, and you’re ready to enjoy a treat that is both delicious and healthy.  The above recipe actually will make enough for two people, but one person could drink it all if they wanted to do so.  Half of this recipe has 235 calories.

This is one green kale smoothie that is worth the little bit of time and effort it will take to put it together. The Cherry Peach Kale Smoothie…A Healthy and Delicious Choice, is an alternative to a lot of other ice slush drinks, and it is cool and refreshing.  I’m certain if you try it, you will find out it is really good and doesn’t taste like kale at all.  So enjoy!

Berry Sweet and Tart Smoothie…Both Healthy and Tasty

By Jodee Weiland

My close friend, Ann, was visiting me, and we decided we should make a smoothie. As usual when two friends get together and decide to do anything creative, we found ourselves laughing and taste testing as we created this delicious smoothie.

https://learnfromyesterday.com
No one could say we didn’t put effort or thought into it because we went back and forth on what to add and what not add to this new creation throughout the whole process. By the time we finished, I think we had more fun making it than anyone would have thought possible, but that’s the good thing about friends.  Just spending time together and making new memories is the most important thing.

We decided to use a tart cherry juice, Greek yogurt, various berries, spinach, and organic honey to bring together a sweet and tart flavor when blended.  The addition of spinach wasn’t even slightly noticeable in the flavor, but was a great nutritional addition to our smoothie.  It was really very easy to put together, and we both enjoyed the process and the finished product as well.  So I decided to share it with you.

Berry Sweet and Tart Smoothie…Both Healthy and Tasty

1/2 cup tart cherry juice
1 cup raspberries
1 cup strawberries
6 ounce cherry Greek Yogurt nonfat
1 cup spinach
2 tablespoons organic wildflower honey
2 cups ice or more

Wash and prepare all the fruit.  Put all of the ingredients in a blender.  Blend to desired consistency and pour into a glass.  Your smoothie is ready to enjoy!

This recipe will make two 16 ounce smoothies.  One 16 ounce smoothie has approximately 221 calories.  Over and above that, it has 5 grams of fiber, and 9 grams of protein, no fat, multiple vitamins, and other nutrients needed on a daily basis, such as adding to your daily calcium requirements.  It has all the plus factors and is enjoyable as well.

Making smoothies can be fun as you decide what ingredients you will use.  Ann and I had a great time making this smoothie because we were doing it together and making new memories.  In the end, we had what I found it to be a refreshing and satisfying drink, and I knew when I drank it, there were all kinds of health benefits for me as well.  I love making smoothies and making new memories with my friend all at the same time.  I hope you enjoy this smoothie as much as my friend, Ann, and I did when we created it.  Enjoy!

A Simple Very Berry Smoothie…So Easy to Make and Enjoy!

By Jodee Weiland

Whenever I feel the need for something cool and refreshing, but want to stay within the limits of healthy eating, I turn to one of my favorites, a simple very berry smoothie.

https://learnfromyesterday.com
This smoothie is so easy to make, and I always have fresh berries in my refrigerator to use.  In fact, whenever we leave to go out of town, I take any strawberries, blueberries or raspberries I may have left, wash them, and freeze them in a freezer bag, so I can use them in smoothies or drop them in a glass of wine when I return.

Making a smoothie really comes down to what you like, and in this particular smoothie, I chose to use various berries for the most part, with a banana and skim milk added in for additional nutritional value, as well as flavor. This recipe makes two full 16 ounce glasses or four eight once glasses.  It is very good as is, but some people might prefer a little additional sweetness, in which case, I would add a little organic honey.  I personally prefer it without additional sweetness because usually the fruit is sweet enough.  The choice is yours.  Whatever you decide, you will be refreshed and enjoy this smoothie knowing that you are gaining nutritional value as well.
